The “Lithium-ion Battery Association of South Africa” (LiBASA) is a trade association dedicated to promoting the development and use of lithium-ion battery technology in South Africa. It aims to support industry growth through advocacy, research, and collaboration. LiBASA provides a platform for industry professionals, manufacturers, researchers, and stakeholders to share knowledge and drive innovation. Membership is open to companies, academic institutions, and individuals involved in the lithium-ion battery sector.

LiBASA is being established to develop local expertise in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, storage, and recycling—critical elements in driving South Africa’s clean energy transition. Our goal is to unite industry leaders, researchers, startups, and corporations to build a strong, self-sustaining battery ecosystem in South Africa.

The goal of the first Board Meeting will focus on the articles of association to solidify the group’s structure and purpose.
